ACLS-BLS-PALS Thoughts

I remember when I first took an CPR class as a summer lifeguard. The pressure was on and we were very competitive. We had to buy the book and we had to study. It was a matter of life and death. Throughout the years, I have had ACLS (Advanced Cardio Life Support) and PALS (Peds Advanced Life Support) many times and it was stressful a years ago. I did notice when we had a code in the hospital, the protocol was not always followed so I wondered if all of the stress was for nothing. Maybe there was a bit of creativity in this? I know we had to memorize numbers like 15 to 2 , 30 to 1, 2 breaths etc. but throughout the years, the American Heart Association changed the game frequently and sometimes they just added a minor change from the two years before. It sometimes appeared that they had to change it a bit so we could buy more books. Lately, many of the hospital courses are going online. It is probably just a matter of time until we do not have megacodes anymore. It is a bit sad. The pressure and anxiety seems to be fading but I hope the quality remains. What are your thoughts?
