Nurse Staffing Standards for Patient Safety and Quality Care Act of 2021

Senate Bill 1567 was introduced to the senate on 5/11/2021

It seems that if this eventually passes, nurses may have a few more rights.

Nurses may object to, or refuse to participate in, an assignment if it would violate minimum ratios.

Hospitals may not take adverse actions against a nurse based on the nurse’s refusal to accept an assignment. They also cannot discriminate against nurses for complaints relating to the care, services, or conditions of the hospital. There will be  penalties on hospitals violating the ratio requirements and the names of such hospitals will be published.
